Ontario Unveils New Comprehensive Plan to Combat Poverty

TORONTO — The Ontario government released its new Poverty Reduction Strategy today which will help more people get back to work and participate in the province’s economic recovery from COVID-19. The five-year strategy outlines key initiatives that will help connect people experiencing poverty with education, skills training, health and other supports, while helping people keep more of their hard-earned money.

Canadian Youth looking for work today are experiencing the biggest culture shift in decades. Employers are often looking for experience, even for entry level roles, and have complicated application and onboarding processes. Often times youth are overlooked and written off. This is even more difficult for youth that are experiencing barriers to workforce entry.

Canada Youth Works is part of a national online employment community focused on helping youth across Canada find suitable employment. We aim to highlight employers who share the CYW vision of drastically reducing youth unemployment. Together, we can ensure that every Canadian youth has meaningful work, Nationwide.
